Titans Postpone Chris Johnson's Ring of Honor Induction
The ceremony planned for halftime of Sunday's opener is on hold because Johnson and his family can no longer travel to Nashville; the team says it will celebrate him in person at a later date.
The Tennessee Titans have postponed Chris Johnson's induction into the team's Ring of Honor, which had been scheduled for halftime of Sunday's season opener against the Jets, saying Johnson and his family "are no longer able to travel to Nashville" this weekend.
What did the team say?
The Titans said they will "postpone the official induction ceremony and look forward to celebrating the moment with them at a future date," with no new date announced. Johnson revealed in June that he has been diagnosed with ALS, and the team said the delay reflects his wish to attend the induction in person.
What will the honor recognize?
Johnson will become the 20th member of the Ring of Honor. In six seasons with Tennessee from 2008 to 2013 he ran for 7,965 yards and scored 58 touchdowns, both fourth in franchise history, and his 2,006-yard season in 2009 earned him NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the nickname CJ2K.
