Path to the league

Born in Austin, Texas and a graduate of Jack C. Hays High School, Harkey didn't focus seriously on football until his senior year of high school. He began his college career at Tyler Junior College before transferring to Colorado in 2022, then Texas State for 2023-2024, and finally Oregon for his 2025 senior season. The Los Angeles Chargers selected him in the sixth round (206th overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

At Texas State in 2024, Harkey earned third-team All-Sun Belt honors and was graded by Pro Football Focus as the 12th-best blocking offensive tackle in college football. He capped his career with an invitation to the 2026 Senior Bowl after a strong final season at Oregon.

2025 season recap

In his lone season at Oregon, Harkey started 14 of the team's 15 games at right tackle for a unit that was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, and earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors. He ranked top 10 in the Big Ten in Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade and allowed only 12 quarterback hurries among tackles with at least 500 snaps.
