Ben Sims arrives with a productive college resume from Baylor but a winding pro path that has taken him through Minnesota, Green Bay and Minnesota again before landing with Miami. He's the kind of depth tight end who has to keep proving himself every roster cutdown, and he's done it for three-plus NFL seasons now.

Path to the league

Sims played five seasons at Baylor, breaking out in 2021 with 31 catches for 361 yards and nine touchdowns, the most ever by a Baylor tight end in a season. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in touchdown receptions by a tight end (12) and second all-time in receptions (78). He went undrafted in 2023 and signed with the Minnesota Vikings before being claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers.

Career highlights

Sims scored his first NFL touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13 of his rookie season with Green Bay. He has spent most of his career as a rotational blocking tight end and special teams piece, appearing in 45 career games with 8 starts, and signed with the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal in March 2026.

2025 season recap

Sims split the 2025 season between Green Bay and Minnesota after being waived and claimed in late October, appearing in 11 total games and catching 3 passes for 30 yards without a touchdown.
