Brandon Codrington's path ran through an HBCU walk-on tryout to an All-Rookie season as a return specialist in the NFL. After stops with the Jets and Bills, he landed in Houston, bringing a track record of explosive special teams production.

Path to the league

Codrington walked on at North Carolina Central in 2019 and developed into a dual-threat defensive back and return specialist, finishing his college career with 93 tackles, 10 pass breakups and 2,148 return yards with four return touchdowns. He went undrafted in 2024 and signed with the New York Jets before being traded to the Buffalo Bills that same August.

Career highlights

Codrington made an immediate impact as a Bills rookie in 2024, racking up 619 return yards on 38 attempts and earning a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. His blend of coverage skill and return ability made him a valuable special teams asset early in his career.

2025 season recap

Codrington posted 9 tackles, a pass deflection, two fumble recoveries and 1,052 return yards during the 2025 season. He signed a reserve/futures contract with the Houston Texans in February 2026, continuing his role as a cornerback and return specialist.
