Brent Austin transferred twice on his way to a breakout final season at Cal, where his ball skills on the outside caught the attention of NFL scouts. The San Bernardino native went undrafted in 2026 but signed with the Broncos after the team beat out several other clubs for his services.
Path to the league
Austin started his college career at James Madison in 2022, played two seasons there, then transferred to South Florida in 2024 before landing at California for his final season in 2025. He went undrafted in 2026 and signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent on May 8, 2026.
Career highlights
Austin's breakout came at South Florida in 2024, where he started all 13 games and posted a career-high 48 tackles with two interceptions and a team-leading 10 pass deflections. He also had an 81-yard pick-six against UConn during his James Madison days in 2023.
