A national champion and record-setting prep kicker at LSU, Cade York is looking to reestablish himself in New York after bouncing between six teams since his rookie season.

Cade York burst into the NFL with a game-winning 58-yard field goal in his Cleveland debut, but he has spent the years since searching for the consistency that made him a fourth-round pick. The Jets signed him in March 2026 to replace veteran Nick Folk, giving York a chance to prove his rookie-year flashes were more than a false start.

Path to the league

York kicked for LSU from 2019 to 2021, winning a national championship as a true freshman in 2019 and earning first-team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors as a sophomore after going 36-for-36 on extra points. The Cleveland Browns selected him in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

York's rookie season included a memorable 58-yard game-winner against Carolina that earned him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, and he finished 2022 by converting 24 of 32 field goals and 35 of 37 extra points. He has since been waived and claimed multiple times, cycling through the Titans, Giants, Browns again, Commanders, Bengals and Saints as he searched for a lasting job.

2025 season recap

York did not appear in a regular-season game in 2025 as he continued moving through practice squads and brief roster stints across several teams. The Jets signed him to a one-year contract in March 2026 to take over their kicking job from Nick Folk, giving him a fresh opportunity to reestablish himself.
