Cam Grandy took an unconventional route to the NFL, starring at Division II Missouri Western before a standout final season at Illinois State earned him a shot with the Bengals. He has since become a trusted in-line blocking presence in Cincinnati's crowded tight end room.
Path to the league
Grandy played four seasons at Division II Missouri Western from 2018 to 2022, earning second-team All-MIAA honors as a senior, before transferring to Illinois State for 2023. In his lone FCS season he caught 63 passes for 612 yards and three touchdowns, earning first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference and consensus first-team FCS All-American honors. He signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 draft.
Career highlights
Grandy spent much of his 2024 rookie season on Cincinnati's practice squad before being elevated to the active roster in November following an injury to Erick All Jr. He made his NFL debut against Baltimore and finished the year with two catches for seven yards across five appearances, valued primarily as an in-line run blocker.
