Path to the league
Thomas starred at San Diego State from 2018 to 2021, earning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors and three-time first-team All-Mountain West selections. As a redshirt freshman he posted 49 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. The Arizona Cardinals drafted him in the third round (87th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.
