Carter Runyon is a tight end who signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent after a breakout finish at Towson, capping a journey that started at Division III Shenandoah. He made the Raiders' active roster as a rookie and is working to carve out a bigger role in the passing game.

Path to the league

Runyon began his college career at Division III Shenandoah, first as an offensive tackle before dropping weight and switching to tight end in 2022. He transferred to Towson for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, went undrafted in 2025, and signed with the Raiders as a free agent.

Career highlights

At Towson, Runyon caught 43 passes for 549 yards and four touchdowns in 2023, earning first-team All-CAA and second-team FCS All-American honors, becoming the first All-American tight end in program history. He followed that with 45 catches for 502 yards and five touchdowns as a senior in 2024, again earning first-team All-CAA and All-America recognition.

2025 season recap

Runyon was waived by the Raiders in late August 2025 but immediately returned to the practice squad, then was elevated to the active roster in late September. He made his NFL debut in Week 4 against Chicago and finished the season with 1 reception for 3 yards across 13 games.
