A national championship linebacker at Alabama who authored a historic playoff performance in Houston before injuries slowed his path.

Christian Harris arrived in the NFL with a championship pedigree from Alabama and quickly became a tackling machine in Houston. He delivered one of the more remarkable individual playoff performances of the 2020s before a string of injuries chipped away at his role, and he has since moved on for a fresh start.

Path to the league

Harris started as a true freshman at Alabama in 2019, earning freshman All-SEC honors, and went on to win a CFP national championship with the Crimson Tide in 2020. Over three seasons he totaled 220 tackles, 10 sacks, and an interception. The Houston Texans selected him in the third round (75th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Harris posted a career-high 101 combined tackles in 2023. His signature moment came in the 2023-24 playoffs against Cleveland, where he returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown and recorded a sack in the same game, making him the first player since J.J. Watt in 2011 to accomplish both in a single playoff contest.

2025 season recap

Harris's 2025 season was a marked step back from his earlier production; his defensive snap share dropped to just 10 percent as he battled for a role. He finishes his Houston tenure with 206 career tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 13 pass deflections across four seasons.
