Clark Phillips III built his reputation at Utah as one of the most productive cover corners in the country, and the Falcons bet a fourth-round pick that his instincts would translate to the slot at the pro level. Undersized at 5-foot-9 but relentlessly competitive, Phillips has spent his career fighting for playing time in Atlanta's secondary.

Path to the league

Phillips was the highest-rated recruit in Utah program history and started all 31 games he played for the Utes, becoming a two-time All-Pac-12 selection. He was a unanimous All-American in 2022 and won the Associated Press Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award. Atlanta selected him in the fourth round, 113th overall, in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Phillips finished his Utah career with nine interceptions, including four pick-sixes that tied a school record. His size profiles him best in the slot, and the Falcons drafted him in part to fill a nickel-corner void left by Isaiah Oliver's departure in free agency.

2025 season recap

Phillips worked primarily at his more natural nickel/slot position in 2025, recording 27 solo tackles and eight assists before landing on injured reserve, which limited his availability late in the season.
