Bears nickel cornerback out of Washington who cashed in with a market-setting slot extension in 2025.
Kyler Gordon has grown into one of the league's better slot defenders since Chicago drafted him in the second round. In April 2025 the Bears rewarded that development with a three-year, $40 million extension that made him among the highest-paid slot corners in football. Injuries slowed his fifth season, but his long-term role inside is secure.
Path to the league
Gordon starred at Washington before the Bears selected him 39th overall in the 2022 draft. He moved inside to full-time nickel duty and established himself as a versatile, physical coverage option who can blitz and play the run.
Career highlights
Gordon signed a three-year, $40 million extension in April 2025 that included a reported $31.25 million guaranteed, keeping him under contract through 2028. The deal placed him at the top of the slot-cornerback market at the time.
2025 season
Gordon missed time during the year and was activated off injured reserve alongside Jaylon Johnson ahead of the team's Black Friday game against the Eagles. When healthy he remained Chicago's primary nickel as Ben Johnson's staff leaned on his coverage and run-support versatility.
