Dean Lowry built his career as a steady, heavy-handed defensive lineman who started for seven seasons in Green Bay after the Packers drafted him in 2016. Now with the Steelers, he is working back from a significant injury that wiped out his 2025 season.

Path to the league

Lowry was a four-year starter at Northwestern, earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors as a senior after totaling 41 tackles and 8 tackles for loss the year prior. The Green Bay Packers selected him in the fourth round (137th overall, a compensatory pick) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Over seven seasons in Green Bay (2016-2022), Lowry started 80 of 111 games, recording 15.5 sacks, 252 tackles and a fumble return touchdown in 2017. His best individual season came in 2021, when he posted a career-high 5.0 sacks and 42 tackles. He later played for Minnesota before signing with Pittsburgh.

2025 season recap

Lowry's 2025 season ended before it began: he tore his ACL during Steelers training camp on August 5, 2025, and missed the entire season. He re-signed with Pittsburgh on a one-year contract in May 2026 as he works to return to the field.
