Deion Burks built his college production at Purdue before transferring to Oklahoma for his final two seasons, and his combine speed made him one of the more intriguing seventh-round fliers in the 2026 draft. Indianapolis grabbed him with the final pick of the sixth round of value, betting on his vertical speed to stretch a defense.
Path to the league
A Michigan native out of Belleville High School, Burks signed with Purdue and became a featured target by his junior season before transferring to Oklahoma ahead of the 2024 season, the Sooners' first in the SEC. The Colts selected him in the seventh round, 254th overall, in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Burks earned second-team All-Big Ten honors at Purdue in 2023 after catching 47 passes for 629 yards and seven touchdowns. Across his full college career at Purdue and Oklahoma, he caught 151 passes for 1,669 yards and 14 touchdowns in 48 games, and he ran a 4.30-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, the fifth-fastest mark among receivers in his class.
2025 season recap
In his final season at Oklahoma, Burks caught 57 passes for 620 yards and four touchdowns, including two 100-yard performances, one against Michigan and one in the College Football Playoff against Alabama. That combination of production and elite straight-line speed carried him into the draft as a late-round speed weapon.
