A Canadian linebacker who won CFL rookie honors with Hamilton before the Colts brought him south of the border.
Devin Veresuk is a Windsor, Ontario native who became a tackling machine at the University of Windsor before turning pro in the CFL. After a standout rookie season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats that earned him a top rookie award, the Indianapolis Colts signed him to a reserve/future contract to see if his production can translate to the NFL.
Path to the league
Veresuk played U Sports football for the Windsor Lancers from 2020 to 2024, piling up 199 tackles, including 15.5 for loss, and 11 sacks over 22 games. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made him the second overall pick of the 2025 CFL Draft, and he made his professional debut that June against Calgary.
Career highlights
Veresuk broke out immediately in Hamilton, returning an interception 36 yards for a touchdown in his first career start against Montreal. He earned the Frank M. Gibson Trophy as the CFL East Division's top rookie for the 2025 season.
2025 season recap
Veresuk started 15 of 18 regular-season games for Hamilton in 2025, finishing with 66 tackles, three special-teams tackles, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. Hamilton released him in January 2026 so he could pursue NFL opportunities, and the Colts signed him to a reserve/future contract shortly after.
