D.J. Jones

Defensive Tackle · Ole Miss

D.J. Jones is the Denver Broncos' veteran nose tackle and the engine of one of the league's stingiest run defenses.

D.J. Jones went from a two-year run at Ole Miss to a sixth-round pick who has carved out a long career clogging the middle. He anchored the Broncos' front again in 2025 and is signed in Denver through the back half of the decade.

Three-year, $39 million Broncos extension (2025)
2017 NFL sixth-round pick (San Francisco)

Path to the league

Jones transferred to Ole Miss for the 2015 season and, per Wikipedia, played 25 games with 15 starts and 6.0 sacks across two years. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent his early years in San Francisco before signing with Denver in 2022.

Career highlights

Jones has built his value as a low-pad-level nose tackle who holds up against double teams. On March 11, 2025, he signed a three-year, $39 million extension with the Broncos, cementing his role as Denver's No. 1 nose tackle.

2025 season

Jones appeared in all 16 regular-season games he played in 2025 and recorded 39 tackles with 3.0 sacks and one pass defensed, per the Denver Broncos. His three sacks matched a career high he first set with the 49ers in 2020. Denver's defense again ranked among the league's best with Jones manning the interior.
