D'Shawn Jamison has spent his pro career on the move, from an undrafted deal with San Francisco to stops in Carolina and now Pittsburgh. His story starts far from Texas, in a New Orleans family displaced by Hurricane Katrina, and it has carried him through more than 2,500 defensive snaps in college and a steady grind for NFL roster security since.

Path to the league

Jamison was born in New Orleans and moved to Houston after his family was displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. A four-star recruit who chose Texas over Michigan, Oregon, TCU and USC, he played five seasons for the Longhorns before going undrafted in 2023.

Career highlights

Jamison played more than 2,500 defensive snaps and 600 special teams snaps across his Texas career, initially arriving as a wide receiver before converting to cornerback. He finished with six interceptions, 17 pass breakups and 140 tackles for the Longhorns, and also drew honorable mention All-Big 12 recognition as a returner.

2025 season recap

Jamison signed a reserve/future contract with Pittsburgh in January 2025 after joining the practice squad the previous September. He was waived again in August 2025 before re-signing to the practice squad, and he closed the year by signing another reserve/future deal with the Steelers in January 2026, still working to carve out a regular defensive role.
