Eric Rogers

Cornerback · Rutgers

An undrafted Rutgers cornerback who announced himself with a highlight-reel pick-six in the preseason.

Eric Rogers went unpicked in the 2025 NFL Draft after transferring from Northern Illinois to Rutgers, but he made the Chargers take notice with a two-interception, one-touchdown preseason performance that head coach Jim Harbaugh called one of the best plays he'd ever seen. Injuries have since slowed his path to the field.

Path to the league

Rogers started his college career at Northern Illinois (2020-2022), where he earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2022 after logging 17 tackles, four pass breakups and two interceptions. He transferred to Rutgers for his final two seasons, starting 11 games as a senior in 2024 with 34 tackles, three pass breakups, a sack, a pick-six and two forced fumbles. He went undrafted in 2025 and signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Career highlights

Rogers' signature moment came in the Chargers' 2025 preseason, where he intercepted two passes in a single game, including one he returned for a touchdown. Coach Jim Harbaugh praised the pick-six as 'as good a play as I've ever seen.' That performance was central to earning him a spot on the initial 53-man roster.

2025 season recap

Rogers made the Chargers' 53-man roster out of camp but was placed on injured reserve on August 27, 2025, before appearing in a regular-season game, limiting his rookie-year contributions on the field.
