Grant Delpit arrived in Cleveland as a 2020 second-round pick with a Jim Thorpe Award on his resume, then had to fight back from a rookie-year Achilles injury before becoming a fixture in the Browns' secondary. He signed a three-year, $36 million extension to stay in Cleveland.
Path to the league
Delpit was a two-time consensus All-American at LSU and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back in 2019. Cleveland drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he missed his entire rookie season after tearing his Achilles in training camp.
Career highlights
Delpit worked his way into a full-time starting role in Cleveland's secondary and became one of the team's defensive leaders. He posted a career-high 108 tackles in 2024. The Browns rewarded him with a three-year, $36 million extension that includes $23 million guaranteed.
