A Monterrey, Mexico native who entered the NFL through the International Player Pathway and has spent parts of six seasons bouncing between the Cowboys and 49ers.
Isaac Alarcon is one of a small handful of Mexican-born players to reach the NFL, arriving via the league's International Player Pathway Program after starring at Mexico's Monterrey Institute of Technology. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound offensive tackle has spent his career fighting for a roster spot, first with Dallas and now with San Francisco.
Path to the league
Alarcon played college football at the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) from 2016-2019, where he won a Mexican national championship, before being selected from an international combine held in Germany in October 2019. He trained at IMG Academy before the Dallas Cowboys allocated him to their roster in April 2020 through the International Player Pathway Program.
Career highlights
Alarcon spent four seasons cycling through Dallas's practice squad and reserve/future contracts before being released in the Cowboys' final roster cuts in August 2023. He signed a reserve/future contract with the San Francisco 49ers in January 2024 and has remained with the organization since, primarily working as an offensive tackle.
2025 season recap
Alarcon was suspended six games in April 2025 for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy. He has otherwise remained on San Francisco's practice squad, signing another reserve/future contract with the 49ers in January 2026 as he continues to compete for a spot on the active roster.
