A waiver-wire pickup who found new life after his rookie season stalled, Isaiah Hodgins has spent his career fighting to stick as a reliable possession receiver.

Isaiah Hodgins arrived in the NFL as a sixth-round pick out of Oregon State and struggled to find footing with the Buffalo Bills before a waiver claim changed the trajectory of his career. Since then he has bounced between practice squads and active rosters, always finding his way back to a role as a dependable target when healthy.

Path to the league

Hodgins had a strong three-year run at Oregon State, catching 176 passes for 2,322 yards and 20 touchdowns over 34 games, including an 86-catch, 1,171-yard junior season that earned him second-team All-Pac-12 honors before he declared for the draft. The Buffalo Bills selected him in the sixth round, 207th overall, in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

After failing to carve out a consistent role in Buffalo, Hodgins was claimed off waivers by the New York Giants in November 2022, a move that proved pivotal for his career. He became a reliable possession target in New York, and through 2024 he had accumulated 70 receptions for 749 yards and eight touchdowns, including a strong postseason showing where he led the Giants with eight catches for 105 yards and a touchdown in a Wild Card win at Minnesota.

2025 season recap

Hodgins had a turbulent 2025, spending time on the practice squads of the 49ers and Steelers and not appearing in a regular-season game for most of the year. The Giants signed him off Pittsburgh's practice squad in November 2025, reuniting him with the franchise where he had his best NFL success, and he re-signed with New York again in March 2026.
