Jackson Sirmon is a linebacker who built a reputation as a tackling machine across stops at Washington and California before going undrafted in 2024. After a developmental run with the New York Jets, he signed with New Orleans in 2026 to join a linebacker room coached by his own father, giving the move a personal storyline beyond the football.

Path to the league

Sirmon began his college career at Washington from 2018 to 2021 before transferring to California for his final two seasons. He went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed with the New York Jets as a free agent.

Career highlights

Sirmon put together a collegiate career of more than 300 tackles across his time at Washington and Cal, adding 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. His best season came in 2022 at California, when he racked up 104 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception, earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors under defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, his father.

2025 season recap

Sirmon spent the 2025 season with the Jets, appearing in just one game while otherwise working from the practice squad. On May 27, 2026, the Saints signed him, reuniting him with his father, who now coaches New Orleans' linebackers.
