Jakob Robinson is a cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers who signed as an undrafted free agent out of BYU in 2025. A four-year starter and team captain in college, he impressed enough in his first pro training camp to be considered a real threat to make San Francisco's 53-man roster before injury intervened.

Path to the league

Robinson went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed with the 49ers shortly after, on April 26, 2025. He started for four seasons at BYU and served as a team captain as a senior, intercepting 11 passes over his college career while lining up both outside and in the slot.

Career highlights

At 5-foot-10 and running a 4.4-second 40-yard dash, Robinson stood out during the pre-draft process for his speed and versatility despite going unselected. His college resume, including 11 interceptions and a captaincy, made him a well-regarded UDFA target coming out of BYU.

2025 season recap

Robinson had a strong first training camp and preseason with San Francisco, putting himself in position for a roster spot. Before the regular season played out fully, he suffered a broken forearm and was placed on injured reserve, ending his rookie campaign. In limited action he had produced five pass breakups, eight passes defended, three interceptions and 43 tackles.
