Jarquez Hunter announced himself at Auburn with a 94-yard touchdown run as a true freshman and left as one of the program's most productive backs. The Rams traded up to grab him in the fourth round of the 2025 draft, though a crowded backfield limited his rookie-year opportunities.

Path to the league

Hunter played four seasons at Auburn (2021-2024), rushing for 3,378 yards and 25 touchdowns across 49 games. His freshman-year 94-yard touchdown run set an Auburn program record for longest rush, and he broke out as a senior in 2024 with 1,201 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, earning First-Team All-SEC honors. The Los Angeles Rams traded up with the Indianapolis Colts to select him with the 117th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Hunter's First-Team All-SEC senior season featured the second-highest explosive rush rate among FBS backs with at least 150 carries in 2024. He added 21 receptions for 155 yards that year, showing pass-catching ability to go with his big-play rushing style.

2025 season recap

Hunter entered a crowded Rams backfield behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, who combined for nearly 2,000 rushing yards in 2025. He was limited to special-teams duty for stretches of the season and did not record regular-season rushing statistics through the majority of the schedule.
