Reigning MVP, the only player in NFL history to post 3,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in the same season.
Josh Allen finally won his first MVP in February 2025, then promptly turned in an even better follow-up. He's the most physically singular quarterback in the league: throws it 70 yards on the run, breaks tackles like a power back, and now has the trophy to match the production.
Path to the league
Junior-college transfer who landed at Wyoming, where he played in front of empty stadiums and threw too many interceptions for most scouts. The Bills traded up to take him 7th overall in 2018 anyway. Year three was the breakout. He has been a top-five MVP finisher every season since.
Career highlights
2024 NFL MVP (54 percent of first-place votes). 2024 totals: 41 total touchdowns, 28 passing and 12 rushing plus a receiving score on a lateral from Amari Cooper, making him the only player ever with 25-plus passing TDs, 10-plus rushing TDs and a receiving TD in the same year. 75 career rushing touchdowns tie Cam Newton for most by a quarterback.
2025 season recap
4,247 total yards and 39 total touchdowns, the only player in football with 3,000-plus passing yards and 500-plus rushing yards. Through Buffalo's first 10 games he became the first player in NFL history to put up 15-plus passing TDs and 10-plus rushing TDs while averaging 8 or more yards per attempt. The Bills lost the Divisional Round to Denver.
What to watch in 2026
Buffalo is +1100 to win Super Bowl LXI, third on the board. Allen is 30 in May, in his physical prime, and now operating with a deeper receiver room after the team used early draft capital on wideouts in April. The variance question with Allen has never been talent. It's whether the AFC East title finally translates into a Super Bowl trip.
