Josh Pitsenberger built one of the most productive careers in Yale football history, closing out his four years as team captain and the program's second all-time leading rusher. The Bethesda, Maryland native went unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft but signed with the Houston Texans as part of their undrafted rookie class, bringing an Ivy League workhorse's résumé to Houston's backfield competition.
Path to the league
Pitsenberger played all four of his collegiate seasons at Yale, developing from a rotational back into the Bulldogs' featured runner and eventual team captain. He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft and signed with the Houston Texans as a free agent shortly after.
Career highlights
Pitsenberger finished his Yale career with 3,435 rushing yards and 41 touchdowns, ranking as the program's second all-time leading rusher. His signature performance came against Youngstown State, when he rushed for a personal-best 209 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in a 43-42 comeback win.

As a senior captain in 2025, Pitsenberger carried the ball 313 times for 1,571 yards and 19 touchdowns, all marks ranking among the top three single-season totals in Yale history. That workload capped his college career and helped him land his undrafted free agent deal with the Texans in the spring of 2026.
