A durable Vanderbilt product who has rebuilt his career as a swing tackle in Tampa Bay after an ACL tear derailed his run in San Francisco.
Justin Skule was nearly a four-year starter at Vanderbilt before San Francisco took him in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. A torn ACL and a brief detour through Minnesota later, he's back in Tampa Bay as the Buccaneers' swing tackle.
Path to the league
Skule started nearly every game across his Vanderbilt career from 2015-2018, missing only five contests as a freshman due to injury, and was a repeat SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. The 49ers picked him in the sixth round (183rd overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Skule played all 16 games as a rookie in 2019 as San Francisco reached Super Bowl LIV, then started four games in 2020. A torn ACL in 2021 practice wiped out his season, and he was released in August 2022. He caught on with Tampa Bay's practice squad that fall and has served as a reliable backup tackle since, starting five games in 2024 before a one-year stop in Minnesota in 2025.
2025 season recap
