Kader Kohou made an NFL roster the hard way, signing with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of a small college program and earning a starting cornerback role within his first two seasons. A torn ACL wiped out his 2025 season, and he now looks to rebuild his career on a new team.
Path to the league
Kohou played four seasons at East Texas A&M (then Texas A&M-Commerce), recording 113 tackles and five interceptions across 44 games. He was named the 2021 Lone Star Conference Defensive Back of the Year and earned First-Team All-Conference honors before signing with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022.
Career highlights
Kohou led all undrafted rookies defensively in 2022 and quickly worked his way into Miami's starting lineup. In 2023, he became the first undrafted rookie cornerback to start an NFL playoff game since 2019, cementing himself as a reliable piece of the Dolphins' secondary.
2025 season recap
Kohou's 2025 season ended before it began. He tore his ACL in late July during training camp, an injury that cost him the entire season. He entered free agency for the first time in his career afterward and signed a one-year contract to continue his comeback.
