A ball-hawking Miami product who became one of the first safeties since Sean Taylor to post double-digit interceptions in a Hurricanes career, now a full-time Rams starter.

Kamren Kinchens built his reputation at Miami as a relentless ball hawk, and the Rams took him in the third round of the 2024 draft hoping that instinct would translate. It has: by his second season he had locked down a starting safety job and was putting up All-Pro caliber numbers.

Path to the league

Kinchens started three seasons at Miami, recording 162 tackles, 11 interceptions and 26 pass breakups over 34 games, and he earned back-to-back first-team All-ACC honors. His 11 interceptions across his final two collegiate seasons made him the first Hurricanes defender since Sean Taylor to reach double digits in career picks. The Rams drafted him in the third round with the 99th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Kinchens' rookie season featured 57 tackles, four interceptions including a pick-six, six pass breakups and a forced fumble, quickly establishing him as a starting-caliber safety. He built on that in year two, drawing recognition as a breakout candidate for All-Pro honors.

2025 season recap

Kinchens started and played all 17 games in 2025, finishing with 84 tackles, six passes defended and two interceptions, including a two-interception performance against Seattle's Sam Darnold in Week 11. He played at least half the defensive snaps in every game but one, cementing himself as a full-time starter alongside veteran Kamren Curl in the Rams' secondary.
