Kendall Williamson's path to a regular NFL roster spot ran through three organizations before he stuck with the Chargers. After bouncing from the Bears' practice squad to a Bills camp cut, the Stanford safety earned his first extended playing time in Los Angeles and has since become a steady special-teams contributor.
Path to the league
Williamson played five seasons at Stanford (2018-2022), recording 213 tackles, 11 for loss, an interception, 13 pass deflections and two forced fumbles, while earning four Pac-12 All-Academic Honor Roll selections. The Chicago Bears drafted him in the seventh round (No. 258 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Williamson was waived by Chicago in 2023 and released by Buffalo in 2024 training camp before landing on the Chargers' practice squad that October. He made his NFL debut when elevated for a Week 16 game against Denver in 2024, then signed a futures deal with Los Angeles for 2025.
2025 season recap
Williamson played in all 17 regular-season games for the Chargers in 2025, mainly on special teams, finishing with 14 defensive tackles and five special-teams tackles. He signed a contract extension with the team in March 2026.
