Tony Jefferson is a veteran safety who revived his career with the Los Angeles Chargers and posted a career-best four interceptions in 2025.

Tony Jefferson came out of Oklahoma as an undrafted free agent and built a long career as a hard-hitting safety with the Cardinals and Ravens. After a stretch away from the game, he returned to the field with the Chargers. He turned in one of his best seasons in 2025 under defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

Path to the league

Jefferson played college football at Oklahoma and entered the NFL undrafted in 2013. He earned a starting role with the Arizona Cardinals before signing with the Baltimore Ravens, where he was known as an aggressive presence in the box.

2025 season

Jefferson re-signed with the Chargers on a one-year contract on March 24, 2025, after coming out of retirement. He intercepted a career-high four passes, doubling his career total and recording his first picks in seven years, including a game-winning interception against the Eagles on December 8. He made eight starts, his most since 2018, and helped Los Angeles reach the playoffs. PFF graded his season at 70.3 overall.
