Kimani Vidal arrived from Troy as one of the most productive backs in the country and made an immediate mark with the Chargers, scoring a touchdown on his first NFL touch. The grandson of longtime U.S. Representative David Scott and great-nephew of Hank Aaron, Vidal has steadily built on that debut into a featured role.

Path to the league

Vidal rushed for 4,010 yards and 33 touchdowns across four seasons at Troy, capped by a 2023 campaign of 1,661 yards and 14 touchdowns that earned him Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and third-team All-American honors. The Chargers selected him in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Vidal announced himself immediately in the NFL, scoring a 38-yard touchdown reception from Justin Herbert on his first official touch as a rookie in 2024, finishing that season with 43 carries for 155 yards. He set a Troy single-game record with 248 rushing yards during his college career.

2025 season recap

Vidal took on a much larger workload in 2025, carrying 155 times for 643 yards and three touchdowns while adding 16 receptions for 136 yards and another score through the regular season, then playing in the postseason with 11 carries for 31 yards.
