An SMU record-setting tight end who carved out a receiving role early in Indianapolis before settling into a complementary part with new teams.

Kylen Granson arrived in the NFL as a pass-catching tight end prospect out of SMU and delivered his best receiving seasons early in his Colts career. Since then he has moved around the league, most recently spending time with the Eagles before joining a new roster, with his role shifting toward a smaller piece of the offense.

Path to the league

Granson began his college career at Rice before transferring to SMU, where he blossomed into a First-Team All-AAC selection in 2020. He finished his college career with 129 receptions for 1,879 yards and 16 touchdowns, and still holds the SMU school record for career receiving touchdowns by a tight end with 14. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him in the fourth round, 127th overall, in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Granson posted back-to-back 30-catch, 300-plus receiving yard seasons with the Colts in 2022 and 2023. Across four seasons in Indianapolis from 2021 to 2024, he appeared in 62 games with 17 starts, totaling 86 receptions for 958 yards and a touchdown.

2025 season recap

Granson spent the 2025 season with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing all 17 games but posting career lows with just seven catches for 40 yards as he settled into a limited role behind Philadelphia's other tight ends.
