Mac McWilliams built his college resume the long way, starting as a team captain at UAB before transferring to UCF, where his coverage grades made him one of the American Athletic Conference's better defensive backs. Philadelphia drafted him in the fifth round in 2025 to add depth and competitiveness to a talented cornerback room.

Path to the league

McWilliams played for UAB before transferring to UCF in 2024, where he started 11 of 12 games and posted 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception, grading as UCF's top defensive player per Pro Football Focus. The Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the fifth round, No. 145 overall, of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

At 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, McWilliams ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash at the combine, earning praise as a physical, tenacious cover corner despite his smaller frame. Draft analysts pointed to his 2024 UCF tape as evidence of his toughness and short-area quickness.

2025 season recap

McWilliams saw a limited rookie season behind Philadelphia's veteran cornerback group, appearing in five games and playing 28 defensive snaps while recording one tackle. It was largely a developmental year as he adjusted to the Eagles' scheme.
