Michael Carter II built his name as one of the league's best nickel cornerbacks over four seasons with the Jets before a trade brought him to Philadelphia. A fifth-round pick out of Duke, he became a fixture in New York's slot coverage role, at one point drawing praise as PFF's second-best nickel corner in football.

Carter played four seasons at Duke before the New York Jets selected him in the fifth round, 154th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft, the same draft in which the Jets also selected a different Michael Carter, a running back, earlier that day.
Career highlights
Carter developed into a standout slot cornerback, peaking in 2023 when he earned an AP All-Pro vote and a PFF grade that ranked him 12th among all cornerbacks. He signed a three-year, $30.75 million extension with the Jets in 2024 that made him the highest-paid slot corner in the NFL at the time.
2025 season recap
Carter was limited by injuries early in the Jets' 2025 season before New York traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles on October 29, 2025, in a deal that sent wide receiver John Metchie III back to New York.
