A Day 3 draft pick who turned into a tackling machine, Micah McFadden has anchored the Giants' linebacker corps since arriving out of Indiana.

Micah McFadden built a reputation at Indiana as a relentless, award-winning tackler, and he brought that same production to New York after being drafted in the fifth round. He has become a fixture at linebacker for the Giants, leading the team in tackles in multiple seasons before injury cut short his 2025 campaign.

Path to the league

McFadden was a four-year starter at Indiana who piled up 216 career tackles, four interceptions and 37 tackles for loss, the sixth-highest total in program history. He won Indiana's Anthony Thompson MVP award twice and earned first-team All-Big Ten recognition as a senior. The Giants selected him in the fifth round, 146th overall, in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

McFadden played in all 17 games as a rookie in 2022 and quickly established himself as a core contributor. His 2023 season was his best statistically, with 101 combined tackles, and he tied for the NFL lead that year with four defensive fumble recoveries. Across his first four seasons he compiled 270 tackles, six sacks, six pass deflections, an interception and two forced fumbles.

2025 season recap

McFadden's 2025 season was cut short after just one game. He suffered an injury during the season opener against Washington that required foot surgery, sidelining him for a significant stretch of the year. He remained with the Giants into 2026 as he worked back from the injury.
