Noah Sewell is a linebacker for the Chicago Bears who arrived in the NFL as a downhill thumper out of Oregon's Pac-12 defense. He has worked to carve out a starting role in Chicago's front seven, showing flashes as a run defender before a serious injury interrupted his progress.

Path to the league

Sewell starred at Oregon, where he was named Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2020 and went on to finish his collegiate career with 215 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 11 passes defended, three forced fumbles and two interceptions. The Chicago Bears drafted him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the 148th overall pick.

Career highlights

Sewell has spent his first three NFL seasons working through Chicago's linebacker rotation, contributing on both defense and special teams. Through his first 34 games he compiled 59 tackles on defense along with 13 special teams tackles and two forced fumbles, gradually increasing his defensive snap share as he pushed for a larger role.

2025 season recap

Sewell took a step forward in 2025, appearing in 13 games with nine starts and recording 54 tackles, including three for loss, his highest single-season tackle total to that point. His season ended early after he suffered a torn Achilles in a 42-38 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
