Patrick Herbert spent six seasons at Oregon battling through injuries that limited his college production, but he still carries a well-known football name as the younger brother of Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2025 and is working to establish himself at tight end.
Path to the league
A four-star recruit out of Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon, Herbert enrolled at Oregon in 2019 and played alongside his brother Justin for one season before Justin left for the NFL. Injuries during his redshirt freshman seasons (2020-2021) slowed his development, and he finished his six-year college career with 31 catches for 388 yards and four touchdowns. He went undrafted in 2025.
Career highlights
Herbert saw his most consistent college role late in his career, starting six of 14 games as a senior in 2024 after also starting four of 14 games as a junior. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in April 2025.
2025 season recap
Herbert was cut from Jacksonville's active roster on August 27, 2025, but stuck around on the practice squad for the rest of the season. The Jaguars signed him to a reserve/future contract in January 2026, keeping him in the mix at tight end heading into a new season.
