Chargers Place David Njoku and Charlie Kolar on Injured Reserve
Njoku was carted off with a fibula injury in the loss to Las Vegas and Kolar hurt his forearm, leaving Oronde Gadsden as the only tight end on the roster. Five of the team's eight free-agent signings are now missing games.
The Los Angeles Chargers are placing tight ends David Njoku and Charlie Kolar on injured reserve after Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Raiders. Both will miss at least four games.
What are the injuries?
Njoku was carted off with a fibula injury, and Kolar has a forearm injury. Left guard Kayode Awosika (fibula) and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson (hamstring) will also miss time, and Trey Pipkins III sat out Sunday with a knee injury. Trevor Penning starts at left guard if Pipkins can't.
Who plays tight end?
Oronde Gadsden is the only one left on the active roster, with Evan Svoboda and Patrick Herbert on the practice squad. "A lot of confidence in Oronde's game. So many things that he does well," Jim Harbaugh said. The Chargers are 0-2 after home losses to Arizona and Las Vegas and visit Buffalo on Sunday.
