Skinner walked on at Kansas in 2020 after limited scholarship offers, many of which wanted him at defensive back rather than receiver. He redshirted his freshman year, eventually earned a scholarship, and finished his four years in Lawrence with 79 receptions for 1,584 yards and 10 touchdowns.

His breakout came in 2022 when he caught five touchdown passes, including a game-winning score in overtime against West Virginia. He capped his college career averaging more than 20 yards per reception as a senior, developing into one of the conference's top deep threats despite his unconventional start.
2025 season recap
Skinner went undrafted in 2025 and signed with the New York Jets, appearing in one regular-season game and catching one pass for 10 yards, ironically against Buffalo. The Jets released him with an injury designation in June 2026, and the Bills claimed him off waivers about a month later.
