UTSA's all-time leading tackler who battled his way from undrafted free agent to Tampa Bay's 53-man roster over two seasons.
Rashad Wisdom left UTSA as the program's career tackles leader after five durable seasons at safety. He went undrafted in 2024 and spent a year fighting for a roster spot with the Buccaneers before finally sticking on the 53-man roster in 2025, only for a quad injury to interrupt his first extended NFL run.
Path to the league
Wisdom played five seasons for UTSA from 2019 to 2023, starting as a true freshman and developing into one of the most productive defensive backs in program history. He went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed with the Buccaneers as a free agent, spending time on the practice squad before earning a reserve/future contract in January 2025.
Career highlights
Wisdom set the UTSA career records for total tackles (315) and solo tackles (228). He was a two-time first-team All-Conference USA selection (2020, 2021), leading the team with 95 tackles and four interceptions in his breakout 2020 season, and was also named to the C-USA All-Freshman team in 2019.
2025 season recap
Wisdom made Tampa Bay's 53-man roster to open the 2025 season but suffered a quadriceps injury on September 30 that landed him on injured reserve. He was activated in mid-December ahead of the Week 16 game against Carolina, finishing the season with limited action of 3 tackles and a fumble recovery.
