Robbie Ouzts spent his Alabama career as a physical, run-blocking tight end who rarely factored into the passing game. Seattle drafted him with a specific plan in mind, moving him to fullback to fit new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme, a rare investment in a position most teams have phased out.

Path to the league

Ouzts appeared in 51 games with 16 starts over four seasons at Alabama, working primarily as a blocking tight end in a variety of roles within the offense. He caught just eight passes in his college career, two of them for touchdowns. The Seahawks selected the South Carolina native with the 175th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

At 6-foot-3 and 274 pounds, Ouzts tested well for his size at the NFL Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds and posting a 34-inch vertical jump. Seattle viewed that combination of size and athleticism as ideal for a fullback conversion, a plan set in motion once Kubiak made clear he wanted a true fullback in his offense.

2025 season recap

Ouzts competed for the fullback job as a rookie but saw limited statistical involvement, recording no rushing or receiving stats through the portion of the season before he suffered an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve for at least four games.
