Robert Henry Jr. signed with the Commanders as an undrafted free agent after their 2026 rookie minicamp, capping a long road that started at a Mississippi junior college. Bleacher Report tabbed him the NFL's most exciting undrafted rookie, and he quickly turned that buzz into real carries as a rookie.
Path to the league
Out of Lumberton High School in Mississippi, where he piled up more than 7,000 rushing yards and 99 touchdowns, Henry began his college career at Jones College. As a sophomore there in 2022 he led the entire NJCAA with 1,302 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, winning the inaugural Walter Jones Trophy as the nation's top junior college player. He transferred to UTSA in 2023 and led the Roadrunners in rushing in each of his three seasons there.
Career highlights
Across three seasons at UTSA, Henry scored 30 total touchdowns and produced nearly 2,750 yards of total offense. He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft but earned a rookie minicamp invite from Washington and signed as an undrafted free agent, then made the Commanders' roster.
2025 season recap
Henry's final UTSA season featured big performances against Power 4 competition, including a 177-yard game against Texas A&M and a 220-yard all-purpose effort versus Colorado State. As a rookie with the Commanders, he carried the ball 152 times for 1,051 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns while averaging 6.9 yards per attempt.
