Ronnie Rivers never heard his name called in the 2022 draft, but he has quietly stuck around Los Angeles ever since, first as a college workhorse at Fresno State and now as a depth back who earns his keep on special teams behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.

Path to the league

Rivers put together one of the most productive careers in Fresno State history, rushing 671 times for 3,417 yards and 40 touchdowns, ranking second in program history in rushing yards. He led the Mountain West Conference with 13 rushing touchdowns in 2019. He went undrafted in 2022 and signed with the Rams after stints in camp with Arizona and Seattle.

Career highlights

Rivers has spent all four of his NFL seasons with the Rams, carving out a niche as a reliable depth back and core special-teamer. In 2024, 75.7 percent of his offensive snaps came on special teams, underscoring the role that has kept him on Los Angeles' roster despite limited touches at running back.

2025 season recap

With Kyren Williams and Blake Corum combining for nearly 2,000 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, Rivers' offensive workload stayed minimal in 2025: nine carries for 46 yards over 11 games. He remained productive in the return game, taking 16 kickoffs back for 418 yards.
