Rylie Mills is a defensive tackle who spent five seasons at Notre Dame, developing into a team captain and one of the Fighting Irish's most productive pass rushers before Seattle drafted him in the fifth round in 2025. A torn ACL clouded his path to the NFL, but he battled back to make his debut late in the season and finished the year with a championship ring.

Path to the league

Mills grew up in Lake Bluff, Illinois and starred at Lake Forest High School before enrolling early at Notre Dame in spring 2020. He developed steadily across five seasons, making his first start in the 2021 Rose Bowl against Alabama, and the Seattle Seahawks selected him with the 142nd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Mills was a 2024 team captain for a Notre Dame squad that reached the national championship game, and he earned Second-team All-American honors from both ESPN and The Sporting News that season. He finished his college career tied for ninth all-time in Notre Dame sacks with 17.0, highlighted by a career-best 7.5 sacks in his final year.

2025 season recap

Mills tore his ACL late in the 2024 college season, which pushed his NFL debut back after Seattle drafted him. He opened his rookie year on the non-football injury list, was activated in mid-December, and made his NFL debut against Indianapolis. He appeared in two postseason games for Seattle, recording his first career sack in Seattle's Super Bowl LX win over New England.
