Saahdiq Charles is an LSU national champion offensive lineman whose winding career has included stops in Washington, Tennessee, and Dallas, plus a brief retirement, before landing in Carolina.
Saahdiq Charles has one of the more unusual resumes on an NFL roster: a national championship at LSU, a rookie-year injury in Washington, a shocking mid-camp retirement with the Titans, and a reinstatement that eventually routed him through Dallas and on to Carolina. He now looks to provide interior line depth after years of instability.
Path to the league
Charles played at LSU from 2017 to 2019, earning SEC All-Freshman team honors in 2017 and starting nine games at left tackle in 2019 for LSU's national championship team, returning from a suspension to do so. Washington selected him in the fourth round, 108th overall, of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Charles made his NFL debut in Week 6 of his rookie season but suffered a dislocated kneecap that ended his year. He went on to appear in 37 career games with 18 starts across positions on Washington's offensive line from 2020 to 2023, before signing with the Tennessee Titans in 2024 and then unexpectedly retiring during training camp that year.
2025 season recap
Charles was reinstated from the retired list in March 2025 and signed with the Dallas Cowboys, but he was released during roster cuts. He caught on with the Carolina Panthers in 2025 on a futures deal, looking to reestablish himself in the trenches after a turbulent few seasons.
