Sean McKeon has never been a featured pass catcher, but he has stuck in the league since 2020 on the strength of his blocking and reliability in a complementary role. Now with the Indianapolis Colts, the Michigan product continues to fill the same job he has held throughout his career: a tight end who does the unglamorous work in the run game.

Path to the league

McKeon played four seasons at Michigan from 2016 to 2019, appearing in 40 games with 23 starts and catching 60 passes for 668 yards and six touchdowns. His best statistical season came as a sophomore in 2017, when he hauled in 31 receptions for 301 yards and three touchdowns. He went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft and signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.

Career highlights

McKeon spent four seasons with the Cowboys from 2020 to 2023, developing into a trusted blocking tight end in Dallas's offense. His signature moment came on Thanksgiving Day 2021, when he caught his first career touchdown, a 10-yard pass from Dak Prescott, against the Las Vegas Raiders. After a brief stop with the Detroit Lions, he joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2024.

2025 season recap

McKeon remained a depth and blocking option for the Colts in 2025, with his career NFL receiving line standing at 6 catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.
