Stetson Bennett IV built one of the most improbable careers in college football history, going from Georgia walk-on to two-time national champion. In Los Angeles he has settled into a reserve quarterback role behind Matthew Stafford, still chasing his first real NFL snaps as he enters his fourth pro season.
Path to the league
Bennett walked on at Georgia in 2017, spent a year at Jones College (a Mississippi junior college) to reset his path, then returned to Athens as a scholarship player. He eventually won the starting job and led the Bulldogs to national championships following the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Rams drafted him in the fourth round (128th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Bennett is the only quarterback of the College Football Playoff era to win two national titles as a starter, capped by Offensive MVP honors in both championship games. He finished his Georgia career completing 65.0 percent of his passes for 8,429 yards with 66 touchdowns against 21 interceptions. In the NFL he has yet to appear in a regular-season game, working almost exclusively as Los Angeles' third-string arm in camp and preseason action.
2025 season recap
Bennett did not appear in a regular-season game for the Rams in 2025, remaining the club's emergency third quarterback behind Matthew Stafford and the backup role. He was inactive but on the roster for the team's divisional-round playoff game. His clearest production came in the preseason, where he led the NFL in completions, attempts, passing yards and touchdown passes among preseason performers.
