An All-Big 12 cornerback from Iowa State who has battled injuries early in his career but flashed playmaking ability when healthy.

T.J. Tampa was viewed as a Day 2 talent who slid to the fourth round of the 2024 draft, and injuries have since defined much of his young Ravens career. When on the field, though, he has shown the ball skills and coverage instincts that made him a first-team All-Big 12 corner at Iowa State.

Path to the league

Tampa started all 12 regular-season games in his final year at Iowa State, earning first-team All-Big 12 and AP third-team All-American honors while recording two interceptions and seven pass breakups. The Ravens selected him in the fourth round (No. 130 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft after his stock slipped due to a modest pro-day 40-yard dash time.

ESPN's Field Yates ranked Tampa as a top-60 prospect in the 2024 class, and his 40 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass breakups in his final college season made him one of the Big 12's most productive cover corners.

2025 season recap

Tampa's rookie season in 2024 was cut short by injuries, including double hernia surgery and an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve, limiting him to seven games. In 2025 he was more available, recording seven solo tackles and an interception, though he again dealt with a shoulder issue during the season.
