A Colorado State deep threat and dangerous punt returner who gave Seattle a jolt of explosiveness as a rookie despite an injury-shortened debut.

Tory Horton transferred from Nevada to Colorado State and turned into one of the most productive receivers in the country before a knee injury clouded his final college season. Seattle took him in the fifth round anyway, betting on a receiver who is dangerous with the ball in his hands both as a pass catcher and a punt returner.

Path to the league

Horton started his college career at Nevada before transferring to Colorado State ahead of the 2022 season. He broke out with 71 catches for 1,131 yards and eight touchdowns, following it with a nearly identical season, before a knee injury limited him to six games and 26 catches in his final year. The Seahawks selected him in the fifth round, 166th overall, in the 2025 NFL Draft in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

Career highlights

Beyond his receiving production, Horton was one of the best punt returners in college football, totaling 423 yards and three touchdowns on 26 punt returns over his final three seasons at Colorado State. That dual-threat ability as both a route runner and returner is what kept his draft stock afloat despite the injury-shortened senior year.

2025 season recap

Horton caught 13 passes for 161 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie, a strong touchdown rate that included scoring on his first career catch, a 21-yard grab against the Steelers in Week 2. He also broke off a 95-yard punt return, a franchise record, before a shin injury cut into his availability later in the season.
